For coding and writing

List your regular shortcuts first: arrows, Home, End, Delete and function keys. A compact layout can work if you are comfortable with layers. Check the exact keymap before buying.

For spreadsheets and number entry

A dedicated numpad is a useful requirement to select explicitly. Full-size keeps it beside the typing block; an external numpad is another setup choice.

For gaming

Consider mouse room together with the keys your games use. A compact layout does not by itself establish faster input or lower latency.

ANSI, ISO and keycap sets

Layout percentage does not identify the Enter shape, regional legends or every keycap size. Check a top-down photo and the regional option. A replacement keycap kit needs all the sizes your exact board uses.
